Terms of Service

By accessing or using DojoSensei ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and DojoSensei. By creating an account, you confirm that:

• You are at least 18 years of age
• You have read and understood these Terms
• You agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy
• You have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement

DojoSensei is an AI-powered karate class planning application designed for Shotokan karate instructors and practitioners. The Service includes:

• AI Sensei Chat: AI-assisted guidance for training, technique, and class planning
• Class Planning: Tools to create, save, and manage karate class plans
• Drill Library: Access to a curated collection of traditionally-aligned Shotokan drills and exercises
• Kata Visualization: Reference materials for traditional kata
• Japanese Terminology: Glossary of karate terms with definitions

To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account. When registering, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information
• Maintain and promptly update your account information
• Keep your password secure and confidential
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
• Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in suspicious activity.

As a user of DojoSensei, you agree to:

• Use the Service only for lawful purposes related to karate instruction and training
• Not misrepresent your qualifications, rank, or credentials
• Ensure the safety of students when implementing class plans in real training environments
• Not share login credentials or allow unauthorized access to your account
• Not attempt to circumvent usage limits, security features, or access controls
• Not use automated systems, bots, or scripts to access the Service
• Not upload malicious content, spam, or content that violates third-party rights
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction

Important: DojoSensei uses artificial intelligence to provide suggestions, generate content, and assist with class planning. You acknowledge and agree that:

• AI-generated content is provided for informational and educational purposes only
• AI suggestions do not constitute professional martial arts instruction or medical advice
• You must use your own judgment and expertise when implementing any AI suggestions
• AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or inappropriate suggestions
• You are solely responsible for evaluating the safety and appropriateness of any drills or exercises
• DojoSensei is not liable for injuries, damages, or losses resulting from the use of AI-generated content

Always prioritize the safety of yourself and your students. When in doubt, consult qualified instructors or medical professionals.

Our Intellectual Property:

• The DojoSensei application, including its design, features, and functionality, is owned by DojoSensei
• Our trademarks, logos, and service marks may not be used without prior written consent
• The curated drill library, kata references, and educational content are protected by copyright

Your Content:

• You retain ownership of class plans and content you create using the Service
• By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, display, and process your content to provide the Service
• You may export and use your class plans for personal or dojo use

Traditional Karate Knowledge:

Traditional karate techniques, kata, and terminology are part of the shared heritage of martial arts and are not claimed as proprietary to DojoSensei. We provide educational resources based on traditional Shotokan standards with respect for this tradition.

DojoSensei offers both free and paid subscription tiers:

• Deshi (Free): Limited access to basic features
• Karateka: Unlimited AI chat, full drill library, export and print class plans
• Sensei: Instructor tier with unlimited class planning, expanded voice chat, and priority support
• Dojo: Multi-seat tier for schools and organizations

Free trial: You may start a 14-day trial of the Karateka tier. It requires no payment cardand does not convert into a paid subscription — when the 14 days end, your account simply returns to the free Deshi tier unless you choose to subscribe. There is nothing to cancel, and you will not be charged. The trial is available once per account.

For paid subscriptions:

• Billing occurs on a recurring basis (monthly or annual) until cancelled
• Prices may change with reasonable notice to existing subscribers
• You may cancel your subscription at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for
• We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee: contact us within 30 days of any payment for a full refund of that payment, no questions asked. Beyond 30 days, refunds are handled in accordance with applicable consumer protection laws

Your right of withdrawal (EU/EEA consumers): Under the Consumer Rights Directive you have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract without giving a reason. We do not ask you to waive it: our 30-day money-back guarantee above is longer and less conditional than the statutory right, so you keep both, and the guarantee is the one that will usually help you more. Neither depends on whether you have already started using the Service.

To exercise either, email support@dojosensei.com — no particular form of words is required, though you may use the model withdrawal form in Annex I of Directive 2011/83/EU if you prefer. Nothing here limits your mandatory rights under the consumer law of your country of residence.

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

By using the Service, you consent to the collection, processing, and storage of your data as described in the Privacy Policy, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable data protection laws.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
• Physical Training Risk: Karate and martial arts training involves inherent physical risks. DojoSensei is not responsible for injuries sustained during training, whether or not based on content from the Service
• Indirect Damages: DojoSensei shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill
• Maximum Liability: Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability. In such cases, our liability will be limited to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DojoSensei, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another party
• Any content you create, upload, or share through the Service
• Injuries or damages resulting from training activities based on Service content

We strive to provide reliable service, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We reserve the right to:

• Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service with reasonable notice
• Perform maintenance that may temporarily affect availability
• Update features, functionality, or pricing with appropriate notice
• Limit or restrict access to maintain service integrity

We will endeavor to provide advance notice of significant changes or planned maintenance where feasible.

Termination by You:

These are two different things, and they have different effects.

• Cancelling your subscriptionstops future billing. Your paid access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and your account then returns to the free Deshi tier. Your data is kept — nothing is deleted.
• Deleting your account (Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by emailing support@dojosensei.com) ends your access immediately, cancels any active subscription, and erases your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy. This cannot be undone, and any remaining paid period is forfeited unless a refund applies below.
• Paid subscription fees are covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee; after that period they are non-refundable except as required by law

Termination by Us:

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

• You violate these Terms or engage in prohibited conduct
• Your account shows signs of fraud or security concerns
• We are required to do so by law
• You have been inactive for an extended period (with prior notice)

We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any disputes. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally:

• Both parties agree to attempt mediation before pursuing litigation
• For consumers in Norway or the EEA, you may refer a complaint to Forbrukertilsynet (the Norwegian Consumer Authority) or use the European Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform
• Any legal proceedings shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Oslo, Norway (Oslo tingrett)

Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under applicable consumer protection laws that cannot be waived by contract. Mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence may also apply.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Norway (Kongeriket Norge), without regard to conflict of law principles.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), you retain rights under applicable EU and national consumer protection laws, and nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes:

• We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
• For material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notification
• Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms
• If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should discontinue use of the Service

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and DojoSensei regarding the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
